BooksARLINGTON HEIGHTS – The Illinois Secretary of State’s School Library Grant program will award six local school districts over $33,000 in state funds, State Senator Ann Gillespie (D-Arlington Heights) announced today.

“Developing a love of reading and strong reading skills is one of the most beneficial investments we can make in education,” Gillespie said. “Keeping school libraries up to date with contemporary literature will help young students find books they enjoy and have positive effects on their educational career.”

The School Library Grant program is administered by the Illinois State Library and provides funding to update the selection of books offered to students. Grant recipients must obligate the funds by June 30, 2021.

Grant recipients include:

  • Arlington Heights School Dist. 25 – $4,082.25
  • Mount Prospect School Dist. 57 – $1,675
  • Palatine Community Consolidated School Dist. 15 – $8.836.50
  • Prospect Heights School Dist. 23 – $1,103.25
  • Township High School Dist. 211 – $8,785.50
  • Township High School Dist. 214 – $8,886
